Anyone at Foo camp want to pick me up a Chumby? I'm totally psyched about this thing.
When was the last time you had to speak in front of a group? How did you feel?
I gave a short intro to robotics presentation at one of the Six Apart Techie Speaker Series a couple months back. I had a deck that I prepared which was augmented with some real-world stuff that I showed off. About an hour total standing in front of people and it went pretty well, I think. As always, I was a little nervous about being able to keep everyone interested for an hour but that went away as soon as I started.
I'll have to find something else to talk about soon...
I'm going to the first calculus II class tonight at ccsf (my first class in two+ years) and, in the interests of full disclosure embarrassment, I'm going to blog what I understand and don't understand (initially, at least) twice a week (the class meets two times a week for 2 and a half hours each) and just how well or poor I do in the class. I'm taking two more less-interesting classes which I'll try to keep up-to-date as well.
Almost unrelatedly, here's an image of a shell that repeats in a logarithmic fashion:
There's a big game of assassins on Sunday at 2PM in Sutro Heights Park if anyone wants to go.
I've never been but it sounds fun enough: Everyone gets a sock filled with flour and a polaroid of someone else in the park. You're given three minutes to disperse and then the game begins! Hit someone with your floursock to kill them, take their polaroid of whoever they were supposed to kill and continue. Should be fun, neh?
You can poke around with the new Snakes on a Plane audio sending thing easier with this url:

What is your current computer desktop image? Let's see it!
I'm pretty picky about desktop images. I usually only use desktops from Mandolux because I like his style so much (this one on my pc, this one on the dual monitor imac) but I have one exception at the moment; a nice vertical striped wallpaper on my macbook that I can't show because my macbook kicked it hardcore.
There's a free Go Game in Hayes Valley on August 4th (that's a friday, it's from 6 to 9) that I'm trying to gather a team for. The Go Game is an interactive scavenger hunt of sorts around a particular location (hayes valley, in this case), designed for corporate team building but they do regular group games as well.
It can be confusing. Check out the Flash video. And tell me if you might want to play!
What's your cell phone's ringtone? What made you pick it?
My phone is always on vibrate unless I want to show off my geekery in which case my ring tone is Rufus' March from Final Fantasy VII. Here's a tune that you're subjected to for approximately an hour and a half straight (if you're quick about things) and the entire midi repeats after a little more than a minute. If you know Final Fantasy VII and you play this tune, it WILL be stuck in your head all afternoon so I don't really recommend it.
But you sure are curious, aren't you?
